Photoshop: Magazine

For the making of the magazine I used Photoshop. Previously, I had some experience on some basic things that can be done on Photoshop. I started with adding the picture that I was going to use for my magazine i.e. anchor image. I used the close up shot that is a still shot from the trailer for my magazine. The purpose of using this image was to create a direct link for my audience to understand that the magazine is a promotional package for the film.

After placing the image the second step was to add some effects on the picture to make it look frightening. So, I used the blur tool to create a shadow under the eyes as she is already wearing white lenses and the shadows would give it a creepy effect. Then, by using the gradient fill I made the full background black which would make the face of the face of the girl stand out. 

After editing the photo, the next I started to put up the basics conventional text that is seen on a magazine. Firstly, I added the masthead following by the cover lines of the magazine. To make the magazine stand out I used a blood hand and placed it on the face of the protagonist which abides by the codes and conventions of horror making the anchor image stand out.

After adding the text. I used the auto-contrast tool to make the image stand out and add some brightness to it as it was on a plain black background. Whilst I was analysing magazines I realised that many magazines have a film reel at the bottom with the images from the film to promote the film further.

I added a film reel at the bottom with still shots from the film to promote the film further and allow the audience to get some insight on the film. Additionally, I added a circle using the ellipses tool and added some freebies on the magazine cover.
