Post-Production Day 2
The second day of our editing involved putting all the shots that we had chose in the first day of editing together. This was an essential part as this was the way to know what order we want our shots to be in. However, on the second day we also decided that we will split in to pairs and two of us will find music and sound effects whereas two of us will focus on the editing and putting all shots together in right order. This was helpful as we were then able to do two different things at the same time, which saved a lot of time as well. Myself and Jeet were looking at the footage and deciding which order the shots should be put in. After the shots were put together, the next bit was to add transitions and cut down the shots that we had taken.
The problem that we faced on that day was that the shots that we had taken were too long, it took us a lot of time to cut them down and put them in the right order. Also, it took a bit of time to understand how to use final cut pro. To make it a little bit easy, myself and my group downloaded some introduction to final cut pro and videos to help us understand how to use it effectively. I have used Final Cut Pro before so I was familiar with some of the functions of the app but because it was a new version we were using it took all of us time to get handy with it.
The Shots we were using for our teaser trailer were cut down to the length of approximately 1-3 seconds as we had to make sure the shots do not give away too much information about the film. After we had cut down the shots and put them together, we then experimented with some visual effects and transitions between each shot. The visual effects included flashes on the very first scene of the eye which then changed color to white. furthermore, whilst this was being done, we managed to find some music that we thought would match the scenes and compliment the teaser trailer. We decided to give music priority as we did not want to leave to last minute where we would have to fit in the music. We wanted to make sure the music is right for each of the shots separately and matches well. Overall, the second day was a bit hectic but we managed to get good amount of work done.
